“This is the longest time I have ever been able to go without feeling the need to take my steroid inhaler! I’ve only taken it once since starting the 30 day challenge. I feel so much more able to breath freely now. Before I started I was quite anxious and worried a lot. It was my mind state I really wanted to change. My default was to worry! That has totally changed and I feel so much better.
Learning to focus on my breath has helped me so much to feel calmer. I feel like I have been able to take this skill and use it in my every-day life to help me deal with stress”.
“Hot Yoga Glasgow is a truly special sanctuary of fitness, joy, health and well-being in Shawlands. Having practiced yoga in many other studios all over the world, I have achieved the most at Hot Yoga Glasgow. The mix of teachers and classes gives a wide range of choice for every level and I’ve been delighted to find myself more calm and happy in life.
Bikram Yoga is a very welcoming space for beginners to more advanced practitioners. The classes are of a great size where you get one on one attention and encouragement and I’m always greeted with a huge smile by Linda and her colleagues. Stepping inside Hot Yoga Glasgow my worries melt away and happiness and calm are restored. I cannot recommend the studio highly enough”.
“When I started Bikram I was suffering chronic pain due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and was on heavy pain killers and disease modifying medication. My joints were very inflamed and painful, my muscles weak and more scarily, my liver had started to suffer due to the drugs. Within just a few weeks of practicing Bikram Yoga twice a week, I noticed a massive improvement in my joint flexibility, muscle tone and a huge reduction in pain and joint swelling.
I have gone from relying on up to 8 strong painkillers a day to some days none and have reduced the disease modifying drugs dramatically, with the guidance of my consultant. It has given me a much better quality of life.”
“I’ve just completed six months of Bikram Yoga and can honestly say I’ve never been happier or felt better in my life. I had a spinal fusion in 1993. My chronic pain started in 2005 when I had my son and in the last few years it’s become unbearable. Due to my spine being fused, I now have sacroiliac joint dysfunction on both sides, one side is fused with pins. I also have spondylolisthesis and arthritis in my spine, it is sore to stand up or sit down for too long!
Bikram yoga has been my lifeline. It’s hard to explain the feeling unless you have been but I leave feeling amazing and in less pain than I was in when I arrived. I take less pain relief in the days after a class. Bikram is my pain relief! I absolutely love it. It’s had a massive impact in my life, physically and mentally.”
“A couple of years ago I had an accident on my bike where I broke my neck in 3 places and suffered a lot of soft tissue damage down the left side of my body. I always felt out of sorts when exercising, had real mobility problems and suffered from multiple injuries as a result of compensating. After 3 months, my body has progressively become stronger and realigned.
I can now have a good stab at all the postures and the physical gains have benefited my running and cycling. My confidence has grown and I feel like a better person who’s better prepared to get the most out of life”.
“I had a serious ankle injury over two years ago. I had to have a plate and screws put into my leg to hold my tibia and fibula bones in place, only last year I had them removed. Most forms of exercise made my injury worse. Trying Bikram Yoga has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. The strength I have built around the muscles and tendons in my ankle has improved my mobility tremendously and it has only been five months.
I have not only felt the physical benefits of practicing Bikram Yoga, but also the emotional benefits in terms of self-esteem and confidence. I have noticed improvements in my posture, sleep. I believe I will practice Bikram Yoga for the rest of my life”.
“For the last 5 years, Saadia has suffered from sciatica and arthritis in the lower three vertebrae of her spine for the last five years. She was on very strong pain killers – taking up to 11 strong prescription pain killers per day.
She started Bikram Yoga a year ago and after 6 weeks she was able to come off all of her medication”.
“Before starting my 30 day challenge I was going through a difficult time following redundancy. My confidence plummeted and I went into stress mode; which for me means zero concentration, zero sleep and my hair falling out. I have suffered from stress related alopecia from a young age, which means I get a random bald patch on my head, which doesn’t grow back for months.
Through my yoga, I’ve found self- acceptance and patience! I completely accept who I am and the way I look, because after a class I know how flipping strong my body is for getting through it! I am more confident in my own skin and I’m not stressing about how others see me anymore”.
